Cyprus farmers held a tractor protest outside the Presidential Palace

In Nicosia, Cypriot farmers held a protest by arriving at the Presidential Palace on tractors. The protest became part of a pan-European wave of discontent among agricultural producers, who are demanding a revision of agricultural policy and greater support from the authorities.
Participants stated that they are facing rising costs, declining incomes, and an increasing bureaucratic burden linked to the European Union’s environmental and regulatory requirements. According to them, existing measures place farmers in a vulnerable position and threaten the sustainability of agriculture.
The protest outside the Presidential Palace proceeded peacefully, but was accompanied by temporary traffic restrictions in the city center. Representatives of the farmers called on the authorities to hear their demands and to begin a dialogue on measures to support the sector.
In recent weeks, actions involving agricultural machinery have also taken place in other European countries, reflecting the general dissatisfaction of the agricultural sector with current EU policies.
