Mountain Roads in Cyprus Now Only Accessible to 4x4 Vehicles Due to Ongoing Freezing Conditions
Due to persistent freezing temperatures, some of Cyprus' mountain roads are now only accessible to four-wheel-drive vehicles or those equipped with snow chains. Drivers have been warned about severe icy conditions and urged to exercise extreme caution.
According to the police press office, the Troodos area has seen significant damage to the mountain road network due to the ongoing freezing temperatures.
The affected roads include:
- Kalopanayiotis – Moutoulla
- Pedoulas – Prodromos
- Prodromos – Lemithou
- Kakopetria – Pinewood – Pedoulas
- Kakopetria – Karvouna
- Kykko – Pedoulas – Campos
There are no significant issues reported on the urban roads or highways as of Monday morning, February 24.
Authorities are urging drivers who plan to travel on the affected roads to remain extremely cautious, follow traffic regulations, and heed road signs.
