Thunderstorms with hail and snowfall in the Troodos Mountains: weather in Cyprus on February 16
According to the data from the Meteorological Department of the Republic of Cyprus, on Friday, February 16, the region is still under the influence of low pressure. The country experiences winter weather with showers, thunderstorms with hail, and snow in the mountains.
Today, in the first half of the day, variable cloudiness with local rain and isolated thunderstorms is expected. Hail may fall during thunderstorms, and wet snow may fall on the highest peaks of Troodos.
According to the meteorological forecast, the air temperature during the day will reach up to 16°C in the inland areas, up to 18°C on the coast, and down to 8°C in the mountains.
By evening, the weather will gradually become mostly clear, however, locally increased cloudiness may lead to isolated rain, mainly on the coasts. Light fog may form in the morning hours in the inland areas of the country and in the east.
The air temperature will drop to about 5°C in the inland areas, down to 9°C along the coast, and down to 2°C in the mountainous areas, where local frost may occur.
On Saturday, the temperature will slightly rise and will remain essentially unchanged until Monday, slightly above average climatic values.
