Consumer Association of Cyprus study reveals rising restaurant prices and improved service quality

The Consumer Association of Cyprus has published its annual report on service levels and prices in food establishments. According to the findings of the survey conducted from May to September 2025 using the “mystery shopper” method, the island has seen improved cleanliness and staff politeness, although price variation for food and beverages remains considerable.
The study covered 200 restaurants and cafés across Cyprus. Water prices range from €1 to €4.50, soft drinks — from €1.50 to €5.00. Beer prices reach €6.70, and chicken dishes range from €13 to €25. The biggest increase was noted for lamb dishes, where prices vary from €14 to €30.
The Association notes that some establishments keep prices stable by reducing portion sizes or using cheaper ingredient substitutes. However, overall, there is a trend toward improved service quality. The report highlights the need to enhance staff training and price transparency, which, according to experts, will help build trust and strengthen Cyprus’ tourism sector.
