Due to large-scale forest fires in Limassol and Paphos, seven villages in Cyprus have been evacuated

On Wednesday, July 23, 2025, a massive forest fire broke out near the village of Mallia in Limassol, quickly spreading to nearby areas. Due to the rapid spread of the fire, authorities decided to evacuate seven villages in the Limassol and Paphos districts.
The fire started amid hot and windy weather, which increased the threat and made the firefighters' work more difficult. From the morning and throughout the day, rescue teams were actively fighting the flames, trying to contain the fire and protect populated areas.
Several houses in the affected area were damaged—some completely destroyed. Due to the rapid expansion of fire zones and the risk to residents, authorities organized the evacuation of seven villages.
According to the emergency report, the situation remains serious. The fire continues to attempt to spread, and emergency response teams, together with local residents and firefighting units, are continuing their efforts to contain it.
