Due to snow, travel in the mountains of Cyprus remains restricted
In the Republic of Cyprus, despite the warming weather and significant improvement in conditions, problems persist on mountain roads. Due to freezing temperatures and light snowfall, roads leading to Troodos are open only to vehicles equipped with anti-skid chains or full-wheel drive.
Other mountain roads are open but remain icy, so drivers are asked to exercise extra caution.
No significant issues affecting smooth traffic flow are observed on the rest of the country's road network. However, roadworks are underway in some areas, so road users should be cautious.
Police recommend drivers to observe traffic rules and exercise caution on the roads to avoid accidents.
It should be noted that the ski season started in Cyprus on February 1st. The snow depth in Troodos this morning was 21 cm.
