Israelis are massively buying land in Cyprus
The number of Israelis who came to Cyprus following the Israeli-Iranian conflict has reached 15,000.
At the same time, Israelis used Cyprus as their refuge during the COVID-19 outbreak and also pointed to the presence of the Jewish organization Chabad in South Cyprus.
According to Politis, the Jews who arrived in South Cyprus have nearly founded a city, and it is maintained. There are already 6 houses belonging to the Chabad organization, a synagogue, a kindergarten, a mikveh (a religious ritual bath), a kashrut (a kosher certification body), a cemetery, and a venue for summer programs.
Stefanos Stefanou, Secretary-General of the AKEL party, which acts as the main opposition in Cyprus, stated during a party congress speech that Israelis are uncontrollably buying land in Cyprus, saying: “Israel is occupying us!”
“We are witnessing the development of a phenomenon where Israeli citizens create closed areas by establishing Zionist schools and synagogues.
We are seeing how Israelis are systematically and comprehensively buying significant economic units and large tracts of land in Cyprus,” Stefanos added.
