Heavy winds will accompany the rain and dust: weather forecast for Cyprus on May 1
According to the Cyprus Republic Meteorology Department, on Wednesday, May 1, the region will be affected by weak low pressure. Dust remains in the atmosphere, the concentration of which will significantly increase in the coming days. From noon on Maundy Thursday until Holy Saturday, strong and very strong winds will blow on the island intermittently.
Today, in the first half of the day, locally increased cloudiness is expected. After noon, isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible, especially in the mountains, in the south and southeast, as well as in inland areas. Hail is also possible during thunderstorms.
According to the meteorological service forecast, the air temperature will rise to 30°C in inland areas, up to 27°C on the southern and eastern coasts, up to 25°C on the western and northern coasts, and up to 20°C in mountainous areas during the day.
By evening, the weather will be predominantly clear, but in some places, especially on the coasts, increased low cloudiness will be observed. The air temperature will drop to 18°C inland and on the coast, and to 11°C in mountainous areas.
In the coming days in Cyprus, short-term rains and thunderstorms are expected in mountainous areas. Until Friday, the air temperature will remain at the same levels, which are above normal for the season.
