Thick Dust Covers Cyprus: Which Cities Are Worst Affected?

On March 5, Cyprus experienced high levels of atmospheric dust, according to the Air Quality Monitoring Network. Authorities advise residents to limit outdoor activities until conditions improve.

Morning measurements show the most polluted areas:

• Paphos – 108.6 µg/m³
• Larnaca – 105.5 µg/m³
• Limassol – 100.5 µg/m³
• Nicosia – 99.3 µg/m³
• Zygi – 80.6 µg/m³
• Paralimni – 70.5 µg/m³
• Agia Marina Xyliatou – 68.0 µg/m³

According to the Department of Labour Inspection, the dust contains fine inhalable particles that can pose serious health risks, especially for children, the elderly, and those with chronic conditions.

Employers are urged to evaluate outdoor working conditions, and employees should wear protective masks if necessary.
