Cyprus Put on High Alert Due to Regional Tensions
Amid a potential escalation of conflict in the Middle East, British military bases in Cyprus, as well as the air defense systems of the Republic of Cyprus, have been placed on heightened combat readiness.
According to sources, the measures are preventive in nature and aimed at protecting strategically important sites and infrastructure, including the British bases on the island. An enhanced missile defense system is being formed in the Eastern Mediterranean.
The authorities of Southern Cyprus are closely monitoring the situation. The Barak MX air defense system has been put on full alert.
