Marios Georgiou Named Europe’s Best Male Gymnast of 2024
Cypriot gymnast Marios Georgiou has been voted Best Male Gymnast of the Year in a public poll conducted by the European Gymnastics Federation. After six days of voting, Georgiou secured an impressive 50.6% of the votes, earning him the prestigious title.
President of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides congratulated the athlete, calling the recognition a “historic moment for Cypriot sports and the nation as a whole.”
“I extend my warmest congratulations to Marios Georgiou and his coaching team for this incredible achievement. Athletes like Marios enhance Cyprus’s presence on the international sports stage,” the president stated.
The Cyprus Sports Organization and the Cyprus Gymnastics Federation also celebrated Georgiou’s success, emphasizing its significance for the country’s sporting community.
