A Cypriot Company Faces US Sanctions for Ties with Russia
A Cypriot company came under US sanctions on Sunday for its connections with the Russian financial sector. Tokentrust Holdings was added to the list of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC).
Earlier, US Ambassador to Cyprus, Julie Fisher, announced on Platform X that one of the 13 sanctioned organizations is registered in Cyprus.
According to local media reports, the company in question is listed on the OFAC list in Limassol.
According to OFAC, the company was established on June 11, 2020. It is a majority shareholder of the Moscow-based platform "Atomaiz."
OFAC specified that Atomaiz is a registered operator of digital financial assets, engaged in tokenizing precious metals and diamonds for Russian companies.
According to the Office of Foreign Assets Control, the company collaborates with Russian banks subject to US sanctions.
