Cypriot Skier Andrea Loizidou Fails to Finish at Milan-Cortina Olympics

Cypriot alpine skier Andrea Loizidou was unable to complete the first run of the women's slalom at the Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics.
The 19-year-old athlete from Limassol started with bib number 95 on the Tofane slope. However, due to challenging weather and course conditions, she failed to finish the first run.
According to Olympic rules, only athletes who complete the first run are permitted to compete in the second. Consequently, Loizidou's participation in the Games ended without a final ranking.
Previously, the athlete had stated she felt fully prepared for her Olympic debut, noting intensive training with her coach.
This event marks the end of Cyprus's participation in alpine skiing at the Milan-Cortina Games. A day earlier, her teammate Yiannos Kouyoumdjian finished in 34th place in the men's slalom.
Slalom is traditionally considered one of the most unpredictable alpine skiing disciplines, where weather and course conditions play a decisive role.
