The Cypriot police arrested 13 illegal workers over the past weekend
The Republic of Cyprus police conducted raids in several areas of the island in search of illegal workers. During the special operation targeting unauthorized employment, 13 individuals were arrested.
Police checks took place in the areas of Nicosia, Famagusta, and Limassol. Twelve of the arrested individuals were working without permission. The thirteenth person, apprehended on the spot, was the employer who, as it turned out, was residing illegally in Cyprus.
As a result of the raids, seven separate cases are under investigation. Seven employers are under investigation for the offense of illegal employment.
Three cases were identified in Nicosia following inspections of a restaurant, a cafeteria, and a store.
In the restaurant, three individuals - a 30-year-old woman and two men aged 50 and 60 - were working without authorization. The men were residing illegally in the country.
In the cafeteria, three individuals aged 23, 28, and 30 were working without permission. In a commercial store, the police found two more illegal workers aged 18 and 29.
In Famagusta, violators were identified during inspections at a mini-market and a construction site, while in Limassol, they were found in a restaurant and with a street vendor. Two individuals arrested for working without permission are residing illegally in Cyprus.
