Larnaca Named "Green City of Cyprus 2024"
The coastal city of Larnaca has been awarded the prestigious title of "Green City of Cyprus 2024" (Green City 2024) in recognition of its commitment to sustainability. The municipality has pledged to continue promoting environmentally responsible business practices.
Larnaca received the award for its "Creating the Greenest Beaches in Cyprus – Voroklini" initiative, winning in the "Green Areas – Urban Biodiversity" category.
This award, presented as part of Cyprus’ "Green Cities and Green Communities of Cyprus" program, acknowledges the municipality's efforts to reduce its environmental impact and contribute to the preservation of natural biodiversity.
"The municipality remains committed to advancing sustainable and eco-friendly practices to improve quality of life and protect the environment," the announcement stated.
In addition to this achievement, Larnaca, alongside Limassol, has advanced to the second stage of the competition for the title of European Capital of Culture 2030. The other three Cypriot contenders have been eliminated from the selection process.
