Road Closures in Larnaca and Nicosia Due to Visit by Qatar's Emir
On Tuesday, May 28, the police of the Republic of Cyprus will continue to close streets in Larnaca and Nicosia due to the official visit of Qatar's Emir to the island. Roads will be periodically closed throughout the day.
For security reasons, the police press office has stated that the exact timing and specific roads to be closed will not be announced in advance. Therefore, drivers are advised to follow police instructions during this period.
“In connection with the visit of Qatar's Emir to Cyprus, roads in the provinces of Larnaca and Nicosia will be periodically closed during the day. Drivers should adhere to police instructions. For security reasons, the specific timing and affected roads will not be disclosed,” the police statement on the X platform said.
It is noteworthy that Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, arrived on the island on Monday. During his working visit, the Qatari leader will meet with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nikos Christodoulides. The meeting will discuss bilateral relations, regional events, the Amalthea initiative for humanitarian aid to Gaza, as well as the Cyprus issue and Qatar's relations with the European Union.
