Leaders of the Two Cypriot Communities to Meet Again on April 2

The leader of the Turkish Cypriot community, Ersin Tatar, and the head of the Greek Cypriot administration, Nikos Christodoulides, will meet again on April 2. This will mark their first meeting since the informal summit on the Cyprus issue, which took place last week in Geneva with an expanded format.

The upcoming meeting between the two leaders was reported by the Cyprus News Agency.

Over the past weekend, Nikos Christodoulides announced that the Greek Cypriot side had proposed several dates for this meeting to the Turkish Cypriots through the UN. Ultimately, the meeting was set for April 2.

The meeting is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM local time at the residence of the UN Secretary-General's Special Representative in Cyprus, Colin Stewart.

It’s important to note that the significant informal "5+1" summit on the Cyprus issue, organized by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, took place in Geneva on March 17 and 18. Following two days of discussions, decisions were made to foster trust and cooperation on the island.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres also revealed that the next informal meeting, with an expanded format, will take place at the end of July. Additionally, he mentioned that a new personal envoy to Cyprus will be appointed.
