Leaders of China, Egypt, and the USA congratulated the President of Cyprus on Independence Day
President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides received congratulatory messages from the leaders of China, Egypt, and the USA on the occasion of Cyprus’ Independence Day, according to a statement from the Presidency.
In his message, the President of the PRC Xi Jinping noted that in recent years, under President Christodoulides’ leadership, Cyprus has consistently advanced national development and citizens’ living standards, promoted scientific and technological innovations, and pursued green development. According to him, positive results have been achieved in these areas.
Xi Jinping added that next year will mark the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cyprus and the fifth anniversary of strategic cooperation between the two countries. He expressed his readiness to work with the Cypriot President "to further develop traditional friendship, maintain mutual respect and trust, and continuously enrich China-Cyprus strategic cooperation in the interests of the peoples of both states."
President of Egypt Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, in his message, pointed to the long history of strong friendship between the countries, based on mutual respect and understanding, and to the ongoing coordination on issues of common interest. He declared his intention to expand and strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields for the common good of the peoples.
The congratulatory message was also sent by US Secretary of State Mark Rubio; according to the Presidency, the content of his message matches the text of his public written statement.
