Limassol welcomes the New Year without fireworks

The Mayor of Limassol, Yannis Armeftis, invited residents and guests of the city to welcome the New Year at Grigoris Afxentiou Square, in front of the municipal building. According to him, a festive atmosphere has prevailed in the city since the end of November, with tonight marking the culmination.
The New Year’s program will begin at 21:30 with a vibrant “Broadway Show.” From 23:00, a large concert titled “The Old Times Are Leaving” will start on stage, featuring popular Greek Cypriot performers and an ensemble of eight musicians. The musical program will continue until 01:00, with a traditional pause at midnight.
This year, the city has deliberately decided to forgo fireworks. As the mayor explained, this decision was made out of respect for animals and people who are sensitive to loud noise.
During the celebration, Anexartisias Street will become pedestrian-only. The authorities also note that weather conditions may affect the events, as forecasters are warning of possible rain.
