A horse in critical condition was rescued after posts on social media
Videos of an emaciated horse that spread across Cypriot social media and the media caused a strong public reaction. Environmental activists responded to the alert: with police support, they went to the site and took the animal.
The horse was transported to safe conditions, where it will be examined by a veterinarian and treatment will be prescribed. Police are investigating the circumstances under animal protection legislation.
Animal Action Group coordinator Anti Mouri thanked everyone who helped with transporting and accommodating the horse, as well as the police for their swift response.

As a reminder, under Cyprus animal protection law, cruelty to animals or leaving them without proper care is a criminal offense and may result in a fine of up to €20,000 and/or imprisonment for up to two years.
