Mayor of Dromolaxia–Meneou demands written information on bomb shelters
The Mayor of Dromolaxia–Meneou municipality, Kypros Andronikou, has sent an official request to the Civil Defence demanding written data on certified shelters in the areas of Tersefanou, Kiti, Pervolia, and Meneou.
The Mayor emphasized that the lack of a clear list of shelters is causing concern among residents, especially those near Larnaca Airport. Civil Defence spokesperson Panayiotis Liasidis explained in response that citizens can use the SafeCy app to find the nearest locations. He also admitted that the shelter system needs expansion and additional investment.
In areas where there are no specialized shelters, authorities recommend using basements or lower floors away from windows. At the same time, private shelters in residential buildings remain available only to their residents and are not included in public registers.
