Cypriot Foreign Minister Embarks on Tour of the United States
The Foreign Minister of the Republic of Cyprus, Constantinos Kombos, is commencing a working visit to the United States. On Monday, the Minister will participate in a closed roundtable discussion at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). Subsequently, he will deliver a speech at the global forum conference of the American Jewish Committee (AJC).
During his trip, Constantinos Kombos will visit Washington, New York, and Chicago, where he will meet with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations Jean-Pierre Lacroix. He will also meet with leading members of the U.S. Senate and Congress, and other officials.
Additionally, the Cypriot Foreign Minister will participate as a keynote speaker in the International Justice Coordination Committee of Cyprus, the Pseka 2024 conference.
As part of the Pseka discussions, the Minister will inaugurate a photo exhibition commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Turkish invasion and occupation, using photographs from the Press and Information Office archive.
On Friday, the Minister will serve as the keynote speaker at an event held at the UN Headquarters marking the 60th anniversary of the presence of UNFICYP in Cyprus. He is expected to meet with UN Under-Secretary-General Jean-Pierre Lacroix and have a working lunch with permanent members of the UN Security Council.
He will also address an event at the UN Headquarters regarding Cyprus' candidacy for the Human Rights Council for the 2025-2027 term.
On Saturday, the Minister will travel to Chicago, where he will be the keynote speaker at an event organized by the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.
The Minister's visit to the U.S. will conclude the following Monday with a meeting with Secretary of State Antony Blinken at the U.S. State Department. The parties will discuss deepening bilateral relations, the Cyprus issue, and events in the Middle East. The Cypriot Foreign Minister will also meet with the U.S. Deputy National Security Advisor John Finer.
