Cyprus Minister of Labor scheduled meetings on automatic cost-of-living adjustment
On September 14, 2025, the Minister of Labor and Social Insurance, Yiannis Panayiotou, scheduled separate meetings with employer and union representatives next week to discuss the automatic cost-of-living adjustment (CoLA/ATA).
The meetings will take place within the framework of social dialogue and aim to "continue efforts to reach agreements and overcome disagreements," according to sources familiar with the matter. The decision followed contacts held at the end of the week.
The Cyprus Employers and Industrialists Federation (OEV) and the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KEVE) confirmed in a joint statement that they will meet with the Minister on Monday at his invitation.
The scheduling of negotiations comes against the backdrop of a nationwide strike in which workers demanded full restoration of the automatic cost-of-living adjustment. Authorities and third-party organizations continue discussions on the indexing mechanism in an attempt to find a common approach between employers, employees, and the state.
