Severe Snowfalls in Europe Cause Flight Delays to and from Cyprus

Last Sunday, heavy snowstorms and freezing rain caused widespread disruptions to air travel across Europe, with the United Kingdom being one of the hardest-hit regions. The extreme weather conditions at major airports in northern and Central Europe also led to delays for flights to and from Cyprus.

In the UK, both Manchester and Liverpool airports had to shut down their runways due to the intense snowfall. Meanwhile, hundreds of flights were either canceled or delayed at major German airports, including Frankfurt, Munich, and Stuttgart. Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport also faced significant disruptions, with at least 70 flights canceled or delayed.

The harsh weather also impacted several flights involving Cyprus. A flight from Paphos Airport to London Luton, originally scheduled to depart at 2:40 PM, was delayed by two hours. Similarly, a flight from Paphos to East Midlands Airport, planned for 3:55 PM, didn’t take off until 6:00 PM. Additionally, a flight from Manchester to Paphos experienced a substantial delay, arriving in Cyprus five hours late at 8:10 PM.
