Scammers send fake SMS allegedly from supermarkets to steal money
The Cyber Crime Subdivision of the Police Headquarters has recently received numerous complaints about misleading text messages that supposedly come from supermarkets.
The messages inform recipients that their reward points are about to expire and offer a link to redeem them. The purpose of these messages is to fraudulently obtain citizens’ banking information and steal money.
The authorities note that the messages are deceptive and do not actually come from the mentioned stores. The police urge the public to exercise caution and not respond to such messages.
The risk is that clicking on the links and entering confidential information could result in unauthorized withdrawal of funds from bank accounts. The official source limits itself to warning against responding to such messages and strongly recommends ignoring them.
