The Strovolos Municipality handed over the road repair issue to the district authorities
Residents of the Strovolos area in Nicosia reported that their complaints about water accumulation near their homes and the need for road repairs have remained unresolved for two years. According to local residents, after numerous appeals to the municipality, the management of the repairs has now been transferred to the District Local Government Organization (DLGO).
It is reported that the Strovolos Municipality is compiling a list of works to be transferred or postponed indefinitely. Despite having a registered complaint number and regular phone inquiries, the necessary measures have not been implemented in practice.
The delay in the process concerns residents, especially ahead of the winter season when repeated flooding is possible. Authorities remind citizens of the need to report road problems in advance through official communication channels. It is important for residents to understand that such issues may require lengthy interdepartmental coordination and inclusion in annual work plans. In the absence of a resolution, citizens should maintain documentation of their appeals and monitor the complaint status through the district administration.
Such bureaucratic delays have repeatedly caused difficulties for Nicosia municipality residents. The issue of timely road repair and drainage remains an important aspect of urban infrastructure, affecting comfort and safety of living.
