40-year-old man arrested in Cyprus for involvement with 14-year-old and drug use

A shocking case involving a 14-year-old girl has been uncovered in Cyprus. It was revealed that she was in a relationship with a 40-year-old man and used drugs together with him. The case came to light after police intervention.

The incident occurred on the morning of Thursday, September 18, in the West Limassol area. The girl was found in the front passenger seat of a car next to the driver — a 40-year-old Syrian man with refugee status. The man was arrested and brought before the Limassol District Court, which ordered his detention for eight days.

According to police, the girl was frightened during the check and did not reveal the truth immediately. The man tried to present her as his daughter by holding her hand, but the teenager later admitted she was not related to him. She was then taken to a police station, and her parents were informed.

According to the girl, she had been in a romantic relationship with the suspect for about a year, and in recent months they used methamphetamine together. A medical examination at Limassol hospital confirmed the presence of the drug in her body.

The incident came to light during a routine traffic check: police stopped the car driven by the man. The vehicle was deregistered, uninsured, and without valid documents. A search revealed a bag containing about two grams of methamphetamine and burglary tools.

The man faces charges of sexual abuse of a minor, possession and use of drugs, drug trafficking, possession of burglary tools, traffic violations, and providing false statements to the police.

The case is under investigation by Limassol’s criminal police and the unit for sexual abuse of minors.
