Cyprus Police Arrest Man Supplying Illegal Prescription Drugs from Abroad
A 33-year-old man has been arrested by the police of the Republic of Cyprus on suspicion of importing parcels containing illegal prescription drugs to the island. The investigation is being led by the Hellenic Drug Enforcement Agency (HDEA).
According to police reports, on April 9, a parcel containing approximately 200 tablets, resembling controlled Category C medications, was delivered to Cyprus via a courier service.
Further investigation revealed that another similar parcel had been sent to the same recipient on April 8.
On April 10, the police obtained a search warrant and conducted a raid on the suspect's home. During the search, they seized a computer, a bank card, mobile phones, and a package containing 210 tablets, all labeled as pharmaceutical drugs.
The suspect was arrested and is now in custody. He is scheduled to appear before the Nicosia District Court today, where the court will decide on his pretrial detention.
