Pharmacies in Cyprus Tourist Areas to Open Until 11:00 PM This Summer
Cyprus has introduced a seasonal pharmacy operation scheme, allowing certain pharmacies in tourist areas to work extended hours during the summer period.
According to a Ministry of Health decree, selected pharmacies will be able to operate daily from 08:00 AM to 11:00 PM to serve the increased flow of tourists.
This year, 15 pharmacies plan to operate under the new scheme:
- 12 in Famagusta,
- 2 in Limassol,
- 1 in Larnaca.
To participate in the program, pharmacies must close for at least six weeks during the winter and obtain a special license from the Pharmaceutical Council.
According to the president of the Cyprus Pharmaceutical Association, Ploutarchos Georgiades, the measure is aimed at areas where the population surges in summer due to tourism.
Authorities note that the number of pharmacies in other regions of the island is already sufficient, so there is no need to change the operating hours there.
