Heavy rain and hail expected in Cyprus this evening
Cyprus weather services have warned of strong thunderstorms with heavy rainfall and hail this evening.
Local storms are expected to affect the island on Monday (June 16), mainly in the afternoon and evening.
Atmospheric conditions during the hours of storm activity will favor the development of Pulse Severe storms. Meteorologists report strong rainfall, very intense wind gusts, and hail around 2 centimeters in size across the island.
Locally, due to the intensity and duration of the storms over certain areas, rainfall may reach or even exceed 45 millimeters in 1 hour or 55 millimeters in 3 hours in mountainous areas.
It is worth noting that isolated strong storms cannot be ruled out inland, although the probability is lower, and if they occur, they are expected to be shorter in duration.
