Applications are now open in Cyprus for student housing in Nicosia
The Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Cyprus has announced the commencement of applications for subsidized accommodation for students within the Nicosia fortress city limits.
The project involves financial assistance to property owners or tenants with signed agreements to renovate their premises into student rooms within the Nicosia fortress city limits.
The application process started a day earlier and will be available until the allocated budget is fully spent.
The project falls under the Cyprus recovery and sustainability plan with a budget of 15 million euros. Currently, the third round of competitions is announced with a budget of 11.3 million euros.
The first tranche of funding was allocated for 13 student rooms with a government subsidy of 363,664 euros.
In the second round, two proposals were submitted for 50 student rooms with a subsidy of 2.3 million euros.
According to the Ministry of Interior, the project aims to modernize the area and attract more investments, as well as to offer students affordable housing with controlled rent.
