A ceremony was held at the Cyprus Police Academy for the swearing-in of 100 officers of the special police. All of them signed a contract a week ago.

In addition, their responsibilities will include checking the movements of illegal migrants to identify potential smugglers, guarding reception and detention centers, as well as deporting illegal migrants.
The ceremony was attended by the Chief of Police Stelios Papatheodorou, Deputy Chief of the Training and Development Department Christoforos Mavrommatis, Director of the Police Academy First Sergeant Panayiotis Kountourisis, and Superintendent of the Foreigners and Immigration Service First Sergeant Toma Hadjikyriakou.
