Two Forest Fires Break Out Simultaneously in Cyprus
Two forest fires broke out on Friday morning in Cyprus, with one of them already under control.
The fires occurred in Kalo Chorio, near Larnaca, and in the Tseri area near Nicosia.
According to the Department of Forestry under the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Environment, the first fire broke out at 10:30 AM in the Kalo Chorio community. Thanks to a prompt response from the fire services, the fire was fully extinguished by 11:30 AM.
To contain the blaze, four forestry personnel and two firefighters with a fire truck were deployed. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The second fire started around noon in the Tseri area, heading towards Marki. The incident was reported by volunteers from the Atlas Fireteam on their Facebook page. Firefighters and volunteers are currently on-site working to control the fire.
