Sex Trafficking Network Exploiting African Women Uncovered in Cyprus
Authorities in the Republic of Cyprus have dismantled a sex trafficking network that was exploiting women from African countries. One of the key organizers has been arrested and has already appeared in court.
According to police reports, on March 11, law enforcement officers detained a man suspected of being part of an organized criminal group involved in sexual exploitation.
Court Proceedings and Arrest Warrants
The suspect was brought before the Limassol District Court today, where a judge ordered his detention for two days while the investigation continues.
Local media report that three other individuals were previously arrested in connection with this case. However, one suspect is still at large, with both European and international arrest warrants issued for his capture.
The case was submitted to the Limassol Criminal Court on October 25, 2024, and is still under judicial review. All suspects will remain in custody until the investigation is complete.
Ongoing Investigation
The Human Trafficking Unit is leading the investigation and continues to take active measures to dismantle the network and bring those responsible to justice.
