Cyprus continues to face a rainfall deficit

Despite the recent rains, the water balance in Cyprus remains far from normal. According to the Meteorological Service, between January 1 and 12, the island received on average only 31% of the usual rainfall for this time of year.
Experts emphasize that the rain that has fallen is insufficient to replenish soil moisture and reservoirs. The agricultural sector remains particularly vulnerable, where water shortages can affect crops and future harvests.
Experts note that even if precipitation continues, reaching normal levels will require a prolonged period of consistent rainfall rather than isolated weather events.
