Cyprus to install cameras in another 50 schools

Over the next year, Cyprus plans to install video surveillance systems in another 50 schools. Education Minister Athena Michaelidou told MPs about this while answering a question on how many educational institutions are already equipped with CCTV and what plans exist for 2026.
According to the minister, since the end of 2024 cameras have already been operating in around 100 schools across all districts. The decision is linked to a series of vandalism and theft incidents that continue to be recorded in schools.
