Cyprus to Launch Fishing Training Program
A new fishing training program is set to launch in Cyprus this spring, running from March to April. The initiative is part of the Local Development Strategy for Fishing Zones in the Larnaca and Famagusta districts (2021–2027) and is co-financed by the European Union.
The program is designed for holders of professional fishing licenses (Categories A and B) as well as individuals looking to renew their coastal vessel captain's certificate. The training will consist of two modules, covering essential safety procedures and first aid training. Up to 24 participants can take part, with a minimum of 10 trainees required for the program to proceed.
"This initiative aims to equip local fishermen with specialized theoretical and practical knowledge, enabling them to renew their coastal navigation certificates and participate in fishing tourism," the organizers stated.
The Larnaca fishing group covers the areas of Zygi, Mari, Xylotymbou, and Ormidia, while the Famagusta fishing group includes Paralimni, Ayia Napa, and Liopetri.
Interested participants must submit their application forms by Friday, March 14. Applications can be sent via mail to:
