Dead Turtles and Fish Found on Larnaca Beach
A large number of dead turtles and sea bass with swollen eyes and dissolved internal organs have been discovered on Pervolia Beach in Larnaca. Local residents have reported a mass death of marine life.
According to local media, Environmental Commissioner Antonia Theodosiou has already taken note of the environmental disaster. Relevant authorities have been notified and are currently monitoring the situation.
It’s worth noting that dead turtles and fish were previously found on the same beach earlier this summer.
According to the In-cyprus portal, local residents believe the phenomenon may be due to underwater explosions, with the resulting acoustic waves causing fatal injuries to the fish.
Additionally, dead fish were discovered on Dekelia Beach near the British Bases in early June, raising concerns within the Department of Fisheries.
