Suspect detained for theft and drug offenses on Dhekelia British Base territory

On February 11, a suspect was detained within the Dhekelia Sovereign Base Area for the theft of a pickup truck from the village of Pyrga. Police discovered him on a dirt road, where he was burning registration documents and had removed the license plates.
While attempting to flee, the man lost control, the vehicle overturned and collided with a patrol car. After his detention, it was established that he was under the influence of methamphetamine and cannabis. Drugs and a folding knife were found in his possession.
The suspect has been charged with theft, drug possession, carrying a knife, and dangerous driving. He was also wanted in connection with other cases. The investigation is ongoing.
