Reservoir Capacity in Cyprus Drops to 46 Percent
Water reservoirs in Cyprus are currently filled to 46 percent capacity, a significant decrease compared to last year's 68 percent.
According to the meteorological bureau, a total of 2.34 million cubic meters of water have leaked from the reservoirs since October 1, with only 0.06 million cubic meters recorded in the last 24 hours.
Preliminary estimates indicate that the overall precipitation on the island since October 1 is 84.2 millimeters, considerably less than the average of 191.6 millimeters calculated for the period from 1961 to 1990.
In total, this year's calculations show a 44 percent reduction in water inflow. It is also noted that 3.6 millimeters of precipitation fell in the last 24 hours.
The highest percentage of precipitation was observed at the Atyenou station - 94%, followed by Stavros tis Psokas with 82%.
The lowest percentage was recorded in Xylotymbou - only 11%, followed by Larnaca Airport and Atalassa station in Nicosia with 16% and 18%, respectively.
