Multiple Fires Break Out in the Mountains of Paphos: Forest Services Join Firefighting Efforts

On Thursday afternoon, firefighting services were placed on high alert due to several fire outbreaks in the Archimandritas area of the Paphos district.
According to the Department of Forests, the fire started in a hard-to-reach area, which is why, in addition to the fire service, forest department forces were involved in extinguishing the blaze. Two specialized firefighting vehicles were dispatched to the scene.
Department representative Glafkos Kyriakou clarified that formally the area falls under the responsibility of the fire service; however, the difficult terrain required additional assistance from forest services.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. Efforts to contain the fire sources continued for several hours.
