Nikos Christodoulides and Ersin Tatar will meet at the UN reception in Nicosia
On Monday evening, the leaders of the Cypriot Greeks and Cypriot Turks, Nikos Christodoulides and Ersin Tatar, will participate in the annual year-end reception in Nicosia. The event is traditionally hosted by the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General in Cyprus, Colin Stewart.
The event will take place at 19:00 at the Ledra Palas Hotel in the buffer zone. Among the guests invited to the event are other members of the diplomatic community in Cyprus.
On Saturday, the President of the Republic of Cyprus stated that he discussed the appointment of a new UN envoy during a phone call with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Recall that earlier, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres nominated Maria Angela Holguin Cuellar for the position of the personal representative on the Cyprus issue. She served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia from 2010 to 2018 and was also the head of Colombia's mission to the UN and her country's ambassador to the UN.
The candidacy has already been approved by the Government of the Republic of Cyprus and the leader of the Cypriot Turks, Ersin Tatar.
