Nicosia to Host European Throwing Cup
The 25th European Throwing Cup will take place at the GSP Stadium in Nicosia on March 14–15. The competition will feature 284 athletes from 35 countries.
Leading European athletes, including Olympic, World, and European champions, will participate in the tournament. They will compete in 16 disciplines, including hammer throw, discus throw, javelin throw, and shot put.
Cyprus will be represented by 13 athletes — eight men and five women. Among the team's top hopes are 20-year-old hammer throwers Iosif Kesidis and Valentina Savva, competing in the U23 category. Both athletes are considered among the strongest in the world in their age group and are medal contenders.
Organizers note that hosting such a tournament in Cyprus is a rare opportunity for local athletes to compete on the international stage at home, in front of their families and fans.
The competitions will be broadcast on Cyprus state television and on the official platforms of the European Athletic Association.
