Another Tragedy in Limassol: Two Men Die in Apparent Heating Accident
A tragic fire in Limassol has claimed the lives of two men, with early reports suggesting they were trying to keep warm using a charcoal stove.
According to police, the incident happened last night in an apartment in Episkopi, where the victims were found dead in one of the rooms. Speaking on CyBC radio this morning, Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis confirmed that firefighters were never called to the scene.
During an initial inspection, authorities discovered a charcoal heater inside the apartment. Investigators believe the men may have suffered from carbon monoxide poisoning while attempting to heat their home. Both the police and fire department are conducting a full investigation into the incident.
This marks yet another fatal accident linked to heating appliances. Seven people have already lost their lives this year due to faulty or unsafe heating methods, compared to four fatalities in 2024.
