The new aircraft of the Greek airline was named 'Cyprus' at Larnaca Airport
The President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nicos Christodoulides, participated in the naming ceremony of a Sky Express aircraft at Glafcos Clerides Airport in Larnaca. The aircraft was christened 'Cyprus.'
Speaking at the ceremony, Nicos Christodoulides stated that Sky Express is a valuable partner for Cyprus.
"Cyprus actively supports the aviation sector, aiming to expand the country's air connectivity. We take pride in this modern aircraft crossing international skies and bearing the name of our homeland," said the head of state.
He also emphasized the importance of expanding the company's presence in the country to enhance air connectivity.
Nicos Christodoulides recalled that this year, 157 routes from 56 airlines connecting Cyprus to 39 countries were operated on the island.
"Our goal for next year is to further improve air connectivity," said the president.
The new 'Cyprus' aircraft is an Airbus A321neo, highlighting a commitment to environmental consciousness, as these aircraft play a role in reducing CO2 emissions by 23 percent per kilometer.
Additionally, these aircraft reduce noise levels by 75 percent per passenger, making them among the most environmentally friendly and efficient aircraft to date.
Established in July 2005, Sky Express currently serves 49 routes, including flights to Larnaca from Athens and Thessaloniki.
