One of Cyprus’s Mountain Roads Will Be Closed for a Week
Next week, one of the mountain roads in Cyprus will be temporarily closed to allow for tree clearing and to strengthen fire prevention measures in the Troodos forest.
According to the Forestry Department under the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Environment, the road stretching from the Limassol–Platra–Saitta–Pera Pedi junction (Λεμεσού-Πλατρών και Σαϊττά-Πέρα Πεδίου) to the Pera Pedi–Saita–Moniatis junction (Πέρα Πεδίου-Σαϊττά και Μονιάτη) will be closed to all traffic from Monday, May 26, through Friday, May 30, 2025, between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM daily.
This temporary closure is necessary for forestry work, including tree trimming and cutting along the roadside. These efforts are aimed at boosting fire safety in the Troodos forest and protecting the nearby communities located upstream along the river.
The Forestry Department apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and asks for the public’s understanding during this essential maintenance period.
