Commandaria officially becomes part of UNESCO cultural heritage
Today, December 10, the legendary Cypriot wine Commandaria was added to the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The decision was made at the session of the Intergovernmental Committee in New Delhi.

Culture Minister Vasiliki Kassianidu called this event "a remarkable day for Cyprus and Cypriot culture", noting that Commandaria has become an international symbol of authenticity and the continuity of traditions.
The Chair of the Cyprus National Commission for UNESCO, Marina Solomidu Ieronimidou, emphasized:
"Commandaria is not just a wine, it is part of our identity, memory, and rituals. We will preserve these ancient traditions."
It should be recalled that the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage includes not only monuments but also living traditions — dances, crafts, music, and rituals that unite people around the world.
