Dangerous residential block in Agiou Ilarionou: authorities demand urgent measures
A residential block on Agiou Ilarionou Street is built on a slope, and the lack of a retaining wall poses a serious threat to residents and neighboring houses located below. This was stated by the Independent Anti-Corruption Authority after reviewing an anonymous complaint.
The Mayor of Amathounta, Kyriakos Xidias, stated that the municipality has already made attempts to solve the problem, but the process is complicated by the issue of access to land plots.
According to him, back in 2021, a technical solution was proposed — to build a retaining wall from the side of the neighboring plots below the building. The landowners agreed, but a key owner, citing health problems, refused to allow workers onto his territory.
The municipality assures that it will continue to seek a way out of the situation.
Meanwhile, the building remains unfinished, unsafe, and apartment buyers have been waiting for title deeds for decades.
