Suspect in Alsancak Armed Robbery Arrested in the Republic of Cyprus
A man suspected of carrying out an armed attack on a home in Alsancak has been arrested in the Republic of Cyprus and extradited to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
According to the TRNC Police Directorate, the incident took place on May 23. During the investigation into the shooting and armed assault on a residence on Zeytinlik Street in Alsancak, authorities identified a 20-year-old man as the primary suspect.
Police allege that the suspect fled the scene and illegally crossed into the Republic of Cyprus in an attempt to evade capture.
After confirming his identity, TRNC authorities contacted the Greek Cypriot administration in the south and formally requested his extradition.
Following cooperation between the two sides, the suspect was detained on May 28 and handed over to TRNC police at the Ledra Palace checkpoint, where he was immediately taken into custody.
The investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
