Teen in Greece admits he struck a 17-year-old out of jealousy — the youth died
In the Greek city of Serres, a 16-year-old teenager detained in connection with the death of a 17-year-old boy told police that he struck him during an argument fueled by jealousy. According to the detainee, the conflict erupted after the victim allegedly sent a message to his girlfriend.
Case materials indicate that the incident occurred in the evening outside a local venue with slot machines. The 17-year-old was there with a friend. Some time later, the 16-year-old arrived at the location, also accompanied by a friend. A dispute broke out between the teenagers and quickly escalated into a fight. During the confrontation, the 16-year-old delivered an elbow strike to the head.
After the scuffle, both parties went their separate ways. However, the injured boy later complained to his friend of feeling unwell, returned home, and went down to the basement. Several hours later he was found lifeless — his body was discovered by his sister the next morning.
It is reported that the victim left home on Monday evening and did not return, after which his parents reported him missing.
The investigation is also examining the suspect’s social background: according to media reports, the 16-year-old was raised in a troubled family and had previously come to police attention for minor thefts and drug possession.
The investigation continues, and the exact cause of death is being determined by a forensic medical examination.
